FIFA has made changes to the officiating team for the Benin Republic vs. Nigeria 2026 World Cup qualifying match, which is set to take place on Monday, June 10 at Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Ivory Coast.

Bamlak Tessema Weyesa, an Ethiopian official, was originally assigned to serve as referee for the match, which was set to begin at 4 p.m., but the modifications have sent him packing. Pierre Ghislain Atcho, a Gabonese official, will take over as referee.

Temesgin Samuel Atango and Tigle Gizaw Belachew, Weyesa’s countrymen, have been kept on as assistant referees 1 and 2, respectively.

However, another Ethiopian, Tewodros Mitiku, earlier designated as the fourth official, has been thrown out, replaced by Cameroonian Antoine Max Effa Essouma.

In the match, which takes place just three days after the Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, the originally assigned referee assessor, match commissioner, and security officer keep their positions.
