Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, promised to complete all unfinished projects in each of the six area councils.

Mr Wke made the assurance at the opening of a five-kilometer dual highway project in Kuje, the federal capital’s Kuje Area Council, on Monday,

“Any project that was awarded before now and abandoned, we have to go back to those projects because the government is a continuum.

“It is public money, so we cannot allow government money to be wasted simply because we were not the one that awarded it, no.

“We will continue with those projects since they will have a positive impact on the lives of our people. That is what is important to us, and we are going to do it,” he said.

He clarified that Abdullahi Sabo, the chairman of the Kuje area council, had proposed the five-kilometer road project.

He said that the project was a component of the current administration’s attempts to implement President Bola Tinubu’s “new hope” agenda by bringing development to rural regions.

According to him, political parties have no bearing on the transformation of rural economies brought about by the construction of road infrastructure—good governance is the key.

“This has nothing to do with a party; this is about governance; this is about touching every rural area and every area council.”
