The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reassured the management of the Nigerian Law School (NLS), Abuja campus in Bwari, affirming the provision of maximum security.

Wike conveyed this assurance during a visit by a delegation from the NLS, headed by its Director-General, Prof. Isa Chiroma, on Thursday in Abuja.

Wike emphasised that the FCT Administration has implemented stringent security measures in the Bwari Area Council, where the Abuja campus of the law school is situated.

He underscored that this security deployment was prompted by intelligence reports from security agencies aimed at safeguarding residents and institutions, both private and public, within the area.

The minister highlighted the critical importance of not taking any risks, citing the significance of the intelligence gathered.

He stressed the potential repercussions of any security lapse, emphasising its potential impact not only on the region but also on the entire nation.

Furthermore, Wike reiterated the administration’s commitment to supporting the NLS and expressed willingness to consider the institution’s requests, including the construction of staff quarters and the provision of vehicles.

He underscored the necessity of providing essential support to agencies operating within the FCT.

Given his affinity with the legal profession, Wike affirmed his readiness to extend support whenever needed. He directed the General Counsel of the FCT Administration to collaborate with the school management to ensure the inclusion of the staff quarters request in the FCTA’s 2024 statutory budget.
