Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to support his state and put an end to the current banditry.

Following a meeting with the president regarding the state of security, the governor made the appeal on Tuesday while speaking to reporters at the State House.

He claimed that despite all attempts to put an end to the bandits’ illegal activities, banditry continued.

According to the governor, in order for the military to be able to effectively address the current security situation, the state has requested additional military personnel and equipment.

According to him, “Zamfara has become the center of banditry as we speak today, and if nothing is done in Zamfara State, I don’t think we will be able to solve the situation in the entire Northern Nigeria.”

He stated that more action was required to alter the narratives, pointing out that the kidnapped Kuriga schoolchildren in Kaduna State and other banditry victims had been found in Zamfara.

While this has been going on for the past seven to eight years, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has stated that the state has not heard of any mass abductions, particularly involving schoolchildren.
