The Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has said that the choice of Dr. Olayide Adelami and Mr Tayo Oluwatuyi as Deputy Governor and Secretary to the State Government respectively was a right thing done by his administration.

Speaking at the Government House in Akure on Friday, the governor said he thought Adelami and Oluwatuyi were very qualified and well-equipped to handle the tasks assigned to them. This was the first time the two had met since their appointment.

Aiyedatiwa revealed that he got calls and messages praising the appointment of the two from well-known individuals, such as religious and traditional leaders.

He said, “The time for a deputy governor has come, because the responsibilities have been immense, and I am grateful for the capable hands of Dr. Adelami and the prompt action of the SSG,  Oluwatuyi, who has already begun his duties.

He went on to say that he made the right decisions for both roles based on the overwhelmingly positive responses to the nomination and appointment of the pair.

Following the dissolution of the state Executive Council on Wednesday, the governor named Oluwatuyi as the SSG and Adelami, a former deputy clerk of the National Assembly, as his deputy.

Previously, he had dismissed all political appointees of the late Rotimi Akeredolu, the former governor, and dissolved the state Executive Council.
