Governor Uzodinma hails Buratai on counter-insurgency at book launch

NEWS DIGEST–Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has extolled the outstanding leadership qualities of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai.

He said Lt. Gen. Buratai’s purposeful leadership direction is responsible for the streams of successes recorded by the Nigerian Army in the counter-insurgency war in North East, in the last five years.

The Governor, made the above assertion at the launching of a book titled, “Biography and Strategic Leadership of Selected Commanders in Military Operations: Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai and Six Others in Perspective”.

The event was held at Nigerian Army Resource Centre, in Abuja, on Friday.

According to Senator Uzodinma, the book will serve as a tool-kit for training future military leaders in Nigeria.

Uzodinma, who was represented by Prof. Amaobi Uwaleke, the Eze Udo IV of Obilobi Uratta Ancient Kingdom, in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, said Nigerians love General TY Buratai because of his personal approach to leadership by personally leading the battle against Boko Haram terrorists, and also rescuing captives of the insurgents, among other achievements.

He added that the book underpins the opening of an entirely new area which includes the comparative study by student officers on Biographies of selected military commanders.

Governor Uzodinma, appreciated the author and noted that the book is a must-read for all military leaders.

Author of the book, Colonel Benedict Achodo (rtd.), said he was motivated to write the book based on his experiences as military commander.

He noted that the book captured the evolving challenges of 4th Generation Warfare and Hybrid Wars.

Achodo, disclosed that the whole idea of the book is to use it as a tool-kit for the training of future military commanders.

The COAS was represented by the Chief of Civil Military Affairs, Maj. Gen. US Mohammed and some principal senior officers at the Army Headquarters.
