The federal government has been urged to urgently establish a vulnerable group fund to ensure that poor citizens are not left out of the health insurance coverage in the country.

This can be found in the communiqué from the civil society summit on the federal health budget for 2024, dubbed “The Right to Health Cluster of Civil Society Organizations,” which was organized by the Right to Health Cluster and the Center for Social Justice (CSJ) with assistance from USAID and SCALE.

As per the communiqué, it is recommended that the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) establish communication with other federal government MDAs to guarantee the development and execution of a precise and unambiguous plan for implementing mandatory health insurance.
