In Mushu village in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau state, there were no less than sixteen fatalities.

Spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven, a multi security taskforce maintaining peace in the state, Captain Oya James.

According to Captain James, the attack took place on Saturday night while residents of the attacked community were asleep.

He added that “following the attack, security personnel were deployed to prevent any breakdown of law and order in the area. There was uprising after the incident but the situation has been brought under control.”

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, in the meantime, has denounced the assault on the village and labeled it savage, vicious, and unnecessary.

Gyang Bere, the governor’s director of press and public affairs, issued a statement in which he instructed security services to quickly find and detain those guilty for the horrible deed and make sure they are held fully accountable for their actions.

According to Bare, the governor conveyed his profound worry at the tragedy and asked residents to exercise caution, reporting any suspicious activity to security authorities so they could take prompt action.

He questioned the assailants’ impunity when they harmed people, destroyed property, and eluded prosecution.

He said on “the importance of collective collaboration among rural communities, the Governor assured that proactive measures will be taken by government to curb the ongoing attacks on innocent citizens. He sympathized with affected families, and urged them to find solace in God as the government diligently works to end the prolonged violence.”
