The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), recently applauded Nigeria for taking proactive and effective measures against price gouging and other activities which affects consumers, during the current global pandemic.

It was during the UNCTAD’s recent webinar on “Competition and Consumer Protection in Times of COVID-19”, that Nigeria was given the praise for their ability to handle consumer related issues during the global pandemic.

Nigeria, which was represented by Babatunde Irukera, Director General, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), was acknowledged for its leadership role. FCCPC’s intial successive warnings against unfair practices and anti-market behaviour was commended.
