Twelve individuals sustained injuries due to turbulence on a flight from Doha to Dublin. The incident occurred while the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner was flying over Turkey, according to the Dublin Airport operator, the DAA.
Upon landing shortly before 13:00 local time, Qatar Airways flight QR017 was met by emergency services, including airport police, ambulance, and fire officers. Of the twelve injured, six were passengers and six were crew members, with eight individuals requiring hospitalization.

“The Dublin Airport team continues to provide full assistance on the ground to passengers and airline staff,” stated a DAA spokesperson. Operations at the airport remain unaffected, and the return flight is expected to operate as scheduled this afternoon, albeit with a delay.
The National Ambulance Service confirmed its attendance at the airport to facilitate and support the disembarkment of passengers. Qatar Airways informed BBC News NI that “a small number of passengers and crew sustained minor injuries in flight and are now receiving medical attention,” adding that an internal investigation into the matter is underway.

This incident follows another recent aviation incident involving severe turbulence on a Singapore-bound flight, resulting in the death of a 73-year-old British man and injuries to over 100 passengers, with 20 individuals in intensive care for spinal injuries. Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong issued an apology, expressing deep regret to those affected by the sudden extreme turbulence. The Singaporean government has pledged a thorough investigation into the incident.
