The Nigerian Army announced on Thursday that in a successful counter-terrorism operation in Kaduna State, troops have eliminated a terrorist and recovered a significant cache of weapons.

According to a statement released on their official social media channels, the operation was executed based on credible intelligence, with troops strategically positioned along the terrorists’ anticipated route.

The terrorists, traveling on motorbikes and exiting Mallum Forest via an alternative path, were engaged by the troops in a decisive firefight.

During the encounter, one terrorist was neutralized, and the remaining assailants fled into nearby forests.

The recovered items included one AK-47 rifle, five AK-47 rifle magazines, 18 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 19 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, two motorbikes, a Techno phone, head warmers, face masks, and a magazine jacket.

The statement underscored that military presence has been intensified in the region to bolster security and prevent further threats to the area.
