Four suspected bandits have been neutralized by members of the Operation Safe Haven Special Military Task Force, which is tasked with keeping the Plateau and portions of the states of Bauchi and Kaduna peaceful.

Capt. James Oya, the operation’s media officer, said this in a statement on Monday in Jos.

He claimed that between October 16 and October 22, the forces detained 120 additional people for a variety of crimes committed inside their areas of operation.

According to Oya, some of the suspects were taken into custody on charges of drug selling, cattle rustling, armed robbery, and kidnapping, among other offenses.

He explained that other suspects were arrested for illegal possession of arms and ammunition, adding that it rescued four kidnapped victims during the operation.

“Within the period under review, we neutralised four suspected bandits, arrested 73 suspects with arms and ammunition and 37 others for kidnapping.

“We rescued four kidnapped victims, arrested two suspected cattle rustlers and four suspected drug peddlers.

“We prevented five attacks on vulnerable communities and promptly responded to 28 distress,” he noted.

He further mentioned that several of the suspects had been found to have sophisticated weapons by the army.

He claimed that other suspects who were detained for stealing cars and motorcycles had been turned over to the police to face charges.
