Three candidates are currently in contention to replace Finidi George as the head coach of the Super Eagles, following his resignation last weekend.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) faces pressure to make a prompt decision, as upcoming fixtures are scheduled for September.

According to Soccernet, the NFF is considering the following three coaches:

1. Antonio Conceicao: Known for his tactical prowess and player development skills, Conceicao has managed CFR Cluj in Romania and held coaching roles in Cyprus and Saudi Arabia. Despite being fired by Cameroon in 2022, he is eager to return to coaching.

2. Samson Siasia: A potentially controversial choice, Siasia has an impressive record with youth teams, having led Nigeria’s U-20 and U-23 teams to success at various tournaments, including the Olympic Games. His FIFA ban for match-fixing expires in August, making him a viable candidate for the position. Siasia has previously managed the Super Eagles twice.

3. Salisu Yusuf: With NPFL titles under his belt from his time with Kano Pillars, Yusuf also brings extensive experience as the Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles and Head Coach of the Super Eagles B team. Despite past controversy over a cash gift, his reinstatement by the NFF demonstrates their confidence in his capabilities.

The NFF’s decision is eagerly anticipated as the Super Eagles prepare for their upcoming matches.
