President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the longstanding neglect of the Niger Delta region through his Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking at the Niger Delta Stakeholders’ Summit 2024 in Port Harcourt, represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu emphasized the significance of the summit, themed “Renewed Hope for Sustainable Development of the Niger Delta Region,” as a pivotal moment.

“This administration brings renewed hope and prosperity. This is the season we’ve been waiting for,” said Tinubu. “To achieve lasting solutions, we must overcome disunity. Unity among the people of the Niger Delta and the entire nation is essential. Through our shared vision, we can overcome the obstacles before us.”

He assured attendees of his dedication to the region’s development, highlighting the East-West Road as a priority. He also mentioned that the National Assembly would ensure the completion of this vital road.

Additionally, Tinubu announced that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project would begin simultaneously from Lagos and the Niger Delta to expedite its completion.

Tinubu stressed that the Niger Delta has the potential to thrive through its agricultural resources, particularly in rice production and fish farming.

He emphasized that by focusing on these areas, the region could not only meet its own needs but also contribute significantly to the nation’s food supply. He encouraged the region to embrace its agricultural potential alongside its oil reserves.
