President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja for Lagos State on Friday to observe the Eid-el-Kabir festival. According to a statement from his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the President will spend the Sallah holidays in Lagos, marking the occasion with prayers and reflections aimed at advancing the transformation of Nigeria in line with his Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Sunday, June 16, as Eid-el-Kabir day. This announcement follows the affirmation that Friday is the first day of Dhul Hijjah. The declaration was made in a statement by Sambo Junaid, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council.

The Sultan conveyed his felicitations to Nigeria’s Muslim community, wishing them Allah’s guidance and blessings. He urged Muslims to continue praying for the nation’s peace, progress, and development, extending his wishes for a happy Eid-el-Kabir.

Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court has confirmed the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent, indicating the beginning of the 12th Islamic month. Friday marks the start of the holy month, and the Hajj pilgrimage for 1445 AH-2024 will commence on June 14, with the Day of Arafah on June 15. Consequently, the Muslim festival of Eid Al-Adha will be celebrated on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
