There is tension in the village of Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area, as at least 30 villagers are feared dead in a deadly bomb blast reportedly orchestrated by suspected Nigerian Air Force jet.

According to PoliticsNigeria reports, the incident took place at 9 PM during Maulud, a festive gathering commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

“They were celebrating Maulud (birth of Prophet Muhammad) when the jet dropped the bomb, resulting in the immediate death of more than 30 people,” a resident said.

There are indications that the death toll might increase.

As of press time, authorities have yet to provide a clear picture of what transpired. Meanwhile, Samuel Aruwan, the state’s Overseeing Commissioner of Internal Security, has confirmed the incident and promised an official statement later today. The Nigerian Air Force has yet to comment on the incident.
