Iga Swiatek has again proven herself as the “queen of clay”, winning her fourth Roland Garros title on Saturday afternoon.

The Polish tennis star claimed the championship with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory, defeating Italian opponent Jasmine Paolini, who was enjoying a dream campaign, in straight sets.

Swiatek’s recent success marks the first time a woman has won any Grand Slam three years in a row since Serena Williams’ famous run at the US Open from 2012 to 2014.

Remarkably, Swiatek is the only woman in history to win Roland Garros four times before turning 24.

She also joins an elite group of players, including Rafael Nadal, Bjorn Borg and Justine Henin as the youngest ever to win four Roland Garros titles. Interestingly, all of these players were born during a Roland Garros tournament.

Upon winning her 4th Roland Garros title, an overjoyed Swiatek rushed to embrace her team and her father, who she credits as giving everything to help her achieve her dream.

The Polish star now boasts five Grand Slam titles and is almost guaranteed to finish the year as the World No. 1.
