The Federal Government has decided to halt the enforcement of the $300 helicopter landing levy following discussions with the Airline Operators of Nigeria executives.

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, announced the temporary suspension, effective from May 30, 2024.

This decision, conveyed through a statement by Odutayo Oluseyi, Head of Press, comes after concerns were raised by petroleum labor unions about potential disruptions to the oil and gas industry.

The Ministry had previously mandated helicopter operators to pay the new landing charge, to be collected by NAEBI Dynamic Concept Limited on behalf of the Federal Government.

To address stakeholders’ concerns, Keyamo established a committee comprising members from relevant ministries and agencies, Airline Operators of Nigeria, International Oil Companies, and NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd. The committee has been tasked with submitting a report by the end of June.
