During a courtesy call by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, on Monday in Kano, the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado-Bayero, seized the opportunity to convey a pressing message to President Bola Tinubu through her.

The emir expressed deep concern over the prevailing hunger in Nigeria and emphasized the urgency for President Tinubu’s administration to address the economic challenges facing the nation.

Emir Aminu Ado-Bayero stressed that while there are formal channels to communicate with the president, the direct delivery of the message by the first lady is deemed the most effective and reliable means. He underscored that the economic hardships didn’t originate from President Tinubu’s tenure but necessitate immediate attention from his administration.

In addition to the economic concerns, Emir Aminu Ado-Bayero urged President Tinubu to intensify efforts in combating the longstanding issue of insecurity in the country. He emphasized the need for concerted efforts to achieve lasting peace.

Furthermore, the emir raised the issue of rumored relocation plans of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) from Abuja to Lagos.

He called for clarity from the government on this matter, emphasizing the importance of transparent communication with the populace to allay their concerns and provide insight into the rationale behind such decisions.

Responding to the emir’s concerns, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu urged Nigerians to be patient with President Tinubu’s administration amidst the prevailing economic challenges.

She assured the public of the government’s commitment to implementing economic reforms and policies aimed at improving the welfare of citizens. Mrs. Tinubu expressed optimism that with these ongoing efforts, the situation would eventually improve.

She also expressed gratitude for the warm reception extended by the state government and the enthusiastic welcome from school children along her route, highlighting the importance of grassroots support and engagement in national development efforts.
