Lagos State Police apprehend Emmanuel Achogwu, a 30-year-old technician, for pilfering solar panels from recently installed solar-powered street lights.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the arrest on Monday, revealing that Achogwu was one of the contracted technicians responsible for the installation. 

The arrest took place on Ikosi Road by officers from Alausa Division, who found Achogwu with four stolen solar panels. The investigation is currently underway to unveil further details surrounding the thefts.

“Recently, Lagos State Government installed some solar-powered street lights in some parts of the state” Hundeyin posted on X.

“A few weeks later, the solar panels were stolen. The police were informed and got to work.

“A few days back, 30-year-old Emmanuel Achogwu was arrested by officers from Alausa Division on Ikosi Road with four solar panels, moments after he removed them.”
