The Supreme Court has affirmed the election victory of Umaru Fintiri as Adamawa State Governor.

The apex court’s decision on Wednesday states that Fintiri was legitimately elected by the law.

Recall that Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani of the All Progressives Congress (APC) filed an appeal after the governorship election on March 18, 2023, and the Supreme Court of Nigeria reserved a decision in that case.

The case was delayed for a decision on Monday by a five-member panel chaired by John Okoro following the parties’ arguments.

Akin Olujimi, Binani’s attorney, had maintained that it was legal for Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), to declare that Binani had won the 2023 governorship race.

Nevertheless, the bench of three judges rejected the appeal that was submitted.
