The Olympic Committee of Serbia has announced that former world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic is set to compete in the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Paris.

The committee stated on their website that Djokovic, along with Dusan Lajovic, has met the ATP ranking criteria and will represent Serbia at the prestigious event.

While the Serbian committee has made the announcement, Djokovic himself has not yet publicly confirmed his participation.

This news comes after Djokovic withdrew from the Roland Garros quarter-final due to a torn medial meniscus in his right knee, for which he underwent surgery recently.

Despite his injury setback, Djokovic has consistently expressed his determination to pursue an Olympic gold medal, considering it a top priority.

Having won a bronze medal in Beijing in 2008, Djokovic has repeatedly emphasized his ambition to clinch another Olympic medal, highlighting the significance of the Paris Games.

Djokovic’s Olympic journey has seen both triumphs and disappointments, with close misses in previous editions.

Despite setbacks in London 2012 and Rio 2016, as well as a bronze-medal defeat in Tokyo, Djokovic remains steadfast in his pursuit of Olympic glory.

Following his early exit at Roland Garros, Djokovic has dropped to third place in the ATP rankings, underscoring the challenges he faces as he prepares for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
