NEWS DIGEST – Sen. Mustafah Bukar (APC/Katsina North) on Tuesday flagged-off the drilling of 17 motorized boreholes in rural communities aross the 12 Local Government Areas of his constituency.

Bukar, in a brief speech in Sandamu, where he started the exercise, said that the projects would minimise the shortage of clean water in tne rural settlements.

“A major concern of the people is clean water; getting that is very necesary to keep them healthy so as to avoid epdiemics like cholera and other waterborne diseases,” he said.

Represented by his Special Assistant on Media, Malam Safiyanu Daifa, he said that three would be drilled in Mani, with two each in Kankiya, Ingawa and Daura, while other local governments would have one each.

Bukar advised benefiting communities to make good use of the facility and ensure constant maintenance to maximise its use.

He said that more boreholes would soon be provided to widen the reach, adding that the efforts would complement the state government’s efforts aimed at a better life for rural dwellers.

Malam Habibu Bala, a community leader, who spoke on behalf of one of the benefiting communities, commended the law maker for his foresight and selfless service.

”We want to tell you that we have all resolved to ensure proper and regular maintenance of the facility, ” he said.
