Jadon Sancho reportedly told Erik ten Hag that Manchester United “had bought the wrong player” during a clash over his role in the team, according to The Athletic.

Sancho joined the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million in July 2021.

However, his first season at Old Trafford was disappointing, and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked four months later.

Since September, Sancho has been sidelined from United’s first team and was loaned back to Borussia Dortmund in January.

Tensions between Sancho and Ten Hag had been rising before this.

During Ten Hag’s first season, Sancho started on the right wing in a home loss to Brighton and a 4-0 defeat to Brentford.

After the Brentford loss, Sancho expressed his frustration to Ten Hag, insisting he preferred playing on the left wing.

Sancho’s reluctance to play on the right prompted Ten Hag to push for the club to sign Antony from Ajax for £86 million.
