Saliu Mustapha Rebuilds Alanamu Market Destroyed by Fire [PHOTOS]

NEWS DIGEST – Reconstruction of damaged shops at the Alanamu market have begun 24 hours after the visit of the Turaki of Ilorin and All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial Candidate for Kwara Central, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, this newspaper reports.

The popular Kwara market recently suffered a fire incident, where some of its parts were totally destroyed.

During his visit yesterday, the Turaki of Ilorin commiserated with the traders affected by the unfortunate event, pledging to repair all the burnt shops and display stands.

He said: “We are here to sympathize with the victims of the fire disaster. We know that the fire incident has destroyed properties worth millions of Naira and we thank God that no life was lost in the incident.

“We have ascertained the level of damages and I’m assuring you that the affected shops will be reconstructed in earnest to give hope to the affected shop owners.

“We are promising that each shop owner will get a relieve package to help continue with their businesses after the reconstruction.”

The Balogun of Alanamu appreciated the gesture of Mallam Saliu, who he said has put a very long smile on the faces of the affected shop owners.

“The good news is, that Saliu Mustapha has given his best to humanity and the People of Kwara State all because of his passion and drive for a better Kwara,” he said.

This newspaper gathered that Mallam Saliu Mustapha has made good his promise of rehabilitating the razed market, as reconstruction work began today.

The frontline Kwara Central Senatorial candidate, in a post on Instagram page, said: “Following my yesterday’s commitment to fix the Alanamu market which was ravaged by fire in the wee hours of 25th of July, 2022, work has began immediately.

“It’s my pride and honour to see the victims of this inferno return to business and their means of livelihood restored”.

One of the victims, Mrs Biodun Issah, in a video trending on social media, thanked Mallam Saliu Mustapha for helping them recover from the incident.

“We appreciate him so much, he came yesterday evening and he promised to rebuild and correct all damages, then the equipment was brought for the construction this morning, we are so grateful and we really appreciate him so much”, she said.
