Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney expressed his dismay after being dismissed from his managerial role at Birmingham City. The former D.C United manager faced a challenging stint, securing only 2 victories out of 15 games, a performance that plummeted Birmingham City from 6th to 20th in the highly competitive Championship.

Rooney, aged 38, assumed the managerial position on October 11th, filling the void left by the controversial dismissal of John Eustace, with the Blues positioned sixth in the league table at the time. In the wake of his termination, a heartbroken Rooney turned to social media platform X to articulate his sentiments on the matter.

The Red Devils’ all-time leading scorer extended gratitude to key figures, including Tom Wagner, Tom Brady, and Garry Cook, for the opportunity to manage Birmingham City FC. However, he candidly acknowledged the underwhelming results, stating, “Football is a results business – and I recognize they have not been at the level I wanted them to be.”

Expressing the crux of his frustration, Rooney emphasized the pivotal role of time in a manager’s quest for success, asserting that the given 13 weeks were insufficient to implement the necessary changes. Reflecting on the setback, he revealed that overcoming the disappointment would be a personal journey, considering his involvement in professional football since the age of 16.

Looking ahead, Rooney shared his plans to take a hiatus with his family, preparing for the forthcoming managerial opportunity in his career journey. It’s worth noting that Rooney’s tenure has now etched his name as the shortest-serving Blues manager in their 132-year history, emphasizing the brevity of his time at the helm.
