A Nigerian technology firm, ROC Tech Enterprise (RTE), is set to make history this weekend with the official launch of Bid Idea, a groundbreaking ideation mobile application designed to redefine how ideas are created, shared, and funded.
According to Raphael (ROC) Akomolede, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Executive Developer of RTE, Bid Idea is not just another tech product. He described it as “the world’s first mobile app where users can buy, sell, and crowdfund ideas.” The app officially launches virtually on Saturday, October 25, 2025, and will be available for download on the Google Play Store.
Bridging the Gap Between Inventors and Investors

At its core, Bid Idea seeks to bridge one of the most persistent gaps in Africa’s innovation ecosystem: the disconnect between brilliant inventors and potential investors. Through the platform, two categories of users; ideators (those who create and list ideas) and bidders (those who fund or buy ideas) can connect seamlessly in a secure digital marketplace.
“Never before has there been a platform where, instead of trading goods or services, people can trade intellectual property. Bid Idea is the first of its kind, a space where ideas themselves have value and can generate income,” Akomolede explained.
The app’s interface allows ideators to upload summaries of their innovations in just a few steps while safeguarding intellectual property with built-in security features that prevent screenshots, copying, or screen recordings within chats. Bidders can browse ideas, place bids, or contribute through crowdfunding campaigns within a protected and user-friendly environment.
Born from Personal Inspiration
The concept for Bid Idea did not emerge from a corporate brainstorming session but from personal reflection. Akomolede revealed that the idea came to him as a moment of inspiration in December 2023, shaped by divine guidance, the memory of his late father, and the struggles of millions of Nigerian entrepreneurs who face similar funding challenges.
“When I remembered my dad’s story and looked at the statistics showing that over 17 million Nigerian entrepreneurs struggle to access funding, I knew we had to build something to solve that. Bid Idea is that bridge connecting the investor with the inventor,” he said.
How the App Works
After registration, users can operate as either bidders or ideators. Bidders view a feed of ideas listed on the homepage, each available for bidding or crowdfunding. The base price for listing an idea is ₦400,000, which helps maintain the platform’s value threshold.
Once a bidder expresses interest, both parties can engage privately through an encrypted chat interface to negotiate terms, initiate payments, and complete transactions. Ideators enjoy a one-month free trial, after which a token subscription fee of ₦1,000 per month applies.
The app’s crowdfunding feature allows multiple contributors to fund an idea collectively, with instant payment confirmation through an integrated bank gateway.
A Journey of Resilience and Innovation
The road to developing Bid Idea was not without challenges. Akomolede described the process as financially and technically demanding, citing setbacks ranging from lack of funds to app store rejections.
“There were moments when it seemed impossible, but I’ve always believed that when you are solving a real problem, challenges only refine the solution. We went through those experiences to give our story depth and to prove that Bid Idea is built for people like us who have been there,” he said.
Despite the hurdles, the RTE team developed the app entirely in-house, employing innovative strategies such as deferred partnerships with marketing agencies and legal experts who offered early-stage support.
A Global Vision Rooted in Africa

While Bid Idea is proudly Nigerian, RTE envisions it becoming a global platform for creativity and entrepreneurship.
“In our first year, we want to drastically reduce the number of entrepreneurs who struggle to access funding. We are opening up a world where ideas can find investors directly and where the next big innovation might come from anywhere,” Akomolede said.
He added that the app’s launch “places Nigeria and Africa back on the global innovation map,” positioning the continent not only as a consumer of technology but also as a creator of world-class digital solutions.
As anticipation builds toward launch day, excitement continues to grow around Bid Idea, which RTE describes as “a mind-blowing innovation that will take ideation to another level.”
With its secure design, simple user flow, and revolutionary concept of buying, selling, and crowdfunding ideas, Bid Idea is poised to empower a new generation of African thinkers, innovators, and entrepreneurs.
“Our focus is to deploy digital solutions that strengthen businesses and individuals both locally and globally. Bid Idea is only the beginning,” Akomolede concluded.
