NEWS DIGEST– The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has announced its plan to feed a staggering one million school children in Lagos through its Corporate Social Responsibility tool, His Love Fellowship (HLF). This initiative, aimed at promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Zero Hunger and Quality Education, aims to provide nutritious meals to primary school students across the city.

The HLF/RCCG CSR program has cited the urgent need to combat hunger during these economically troubling times and provide support to vulnerable segments of society. This initiative aligns with the theme of RCCG’s ongoing 71st Convention, entitled ‘Beyond Expectation,’ which seeks to go above and beyond in its efforts.

However, this announcement has raised eyebrows and attracted criticism from some quarters. Skeptics argue that the church’s focus on extravagant feeding initiatives raises questions about the management of their finances. They question whether excessive funds are being allocated to such projects instead of being directed to ward off other pressing societal issues.

Despite the controversy, the HLF/RCCG CSR program extends an invitation to other corporate entities, non-governmental organizations, and stakeholders to join hands in this noble cause. Collaboratively, they aim to create a sustainable and hunger-free environment that nurtures the potential of children and molds a generation equipped to contribute positively to the nation’s growth.

The organization firmly believes that hunger should never hinder a child’s ability to learn and thrive. By providing daily nutritious meals to one million students, this initiative aims to break barriers and pave the way for a brighter future where no child is left behind.

The statement revealed that HLF has already made a significant difference in the lives of 2,062,260 students through its Build a School project. Moreover, the His Love Foundation executed a total of 1,816,579 projects, directly benefiting over 149,047,261 individuals. The foundation has spent an astonishing =N=56,531,763,720 on various nationwide projects over the past five years alone.

It is worth noting that in July, through the Manna Meal School Feeding Program, HLF successfully fed 8,954 children in 118 schools for the third term. They have expressed their commitment to continuing this initiative in the upcoming first term, commencing in September 2023.

Additionally, globally, a remarkable 106,728,606 individuals have been fed through various feeding initiatives, with 28 daily feeding centers catering to the hunger needs of Lagos residents.
