Profile of Aminu Maida: New EVC of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)

NEWS DIGEST – In a recent announcement, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the appointment of Aminu Maida as the new Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

Aminu Maida, currently serving as the Executive Director of Technology & Operations at Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS), brings a wealth of experience to his new role. With over 15 years of diverse, multi-functional expertise in the fields of FinTech, Telecoms, and Enterprise Technology, Maida has demonstrated exceptional technical proficiency.

Prior to his appointment at NCC, Aminu Maida held the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Arca Payments Network, a prominent FinTech company based in Nigeria. Additionally, he held a significant managerial role at Cisco Systems UK, further enriching his international experience and technical knowledge.

Aminu Maida holds a Master’s degree in Information Systems Engineering from Imperial College London and a Ph.D. in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath, UK. His educational background, coupled with his extensive professional experience, positions him as a valuable asset in the telecommunications sector.

Notably, this appointment marks a transition from the tenure of Prof Umar Danbatta, who had served as the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC since 2015.
