The appointment of Ambassador Desmond Akawor as a Federal Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, or RMAFC, has been approved by President Bola Tinubu.

Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, stated in a statement on Thursday in Abuja that the Senate’s confirmation was still awaited for the appointment.

The new appointment came about as a result of the death early this month of the RMAFC Federal Commissioner from the Rivers, Asondu Temple.

Mr Akawor is a decorated public servant who has served the nation as Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea; Minister of State of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and Sole Administrator of the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority.

In addition, he held the positions of Executive Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (Engineering & Technical Services) and CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority.

The President assigned Mr. Akawor the duty of applying his extensive knowledge from various levels of government to the thorough reformation of procedures.

He claimed that by doing this, the resources allotted to the three levels of government will be used in the most effective and fruitful ways possible.
