Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Michael Awoniyi, 25, paid a visit to his alma mater, Adetunji Nursery and Primary School in Ilorin on Monday, donating books to students and cash rewards to teachers.

Awoniyi’s visit to his alma maters comes off the back of his debut season with Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League where he scored 11 goals in all competitions.

One of his goals, a right-footed shot against Arsenal in May, helped his club avoid relegation and secure their spot in the 23/24 Premier League season.

Mr Awoniyi was greeted by the school’s proprietor, Mr Abdulrahman Adetunji, and delivered motivating talks, stationery, and books to the students.

Awoniyi also paid a courtesy visit to his secondary school, Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Ilorin, where he was warmly welcomed by the principal and several of his former teachers.

He urged students to be good school ambassadors and never abandon their dreams. He also pledged to renovate six classrooms and build a school hall.

Many have praised Mr Awoniyi for remembering his roots and making gestures that will help improve the beneficiaries’ education.

Mr Awoniyi had previously visited the Ilorin General Hospital, where he paid off numerous patients’ bills and made cash donations to others.
