Police officers to face disciplinary actions for assault in Kwara

‘Six police officers from the Kwara State Police Command will face disciplinary actions for assaulting a man,” said Police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement on his X handle. “The officers, along with their Commander, are currently in Police Headquarters in Abuja’.

The officers were caught in a viral video assaulting the young man and tried to forcefully drag him into their vehicle after labeling him a yahoo boy (internet fraudsters).

Adejobi has initially reacted to the video after his attention was called to it.

“I have asked the Kwara comm to fish them out and bring them to Abuja. In most cases, we need to take charge of some peculiar cases like this, more so that the men involved are recalcitrant. I have spotted at least 2 offenses in this video, and they need to explain to us. Thanks.”

“Incident of Police Misconduct in Kwara State: We have taken action in response to the recent incident involving officers from Kwara State Police Command who were captured assaulting a member of the public in a viral video. Such conduct is unacceptable and goes against the principles of the Force.

“The officers in question have reported at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, along with their commander.

“They have been referred to the Force Provost Marshal, where they will face disciplinary actions. We remain committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability within the force.”
