Days after it became known that Mrs. Toluige Olokoobi had killed herself, the husband of the boy known as “mummy calm down” has been reported to have been arrested by the Edo State Police Command.

The news of Olokoobi’s passing was revealed on Monday by an X user.

The X user, who said he was at the scene of the incident on Monday afternoon tweeted, “The woman in the viral Mummy Calm down video has just committed suicide here in Benin.

“She refused to speak to anyone about her problems. She left three kids for her husband including the popular Mummy Calm Down boy.”

According to a local resident who also confirmed her death, the deceased killed herself in front of her one-year-old kid.

She went on to say that her husband was a car dealer and a taxi driver, and the dead was a distributor of medications.

The deceased’s husband has been taken into custody to be questioned, according to BBC Pidgin on Thursday, citing the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor.

“He came home from the market when he saw his wife hanging with rope on her neck,

“He alerted the neighbours who followed him to the hospital where she was confirmed dead,” Nwabuzor stated.

The police spokesperson added that her body was deposited at the mortuary.

“He’s still with the police and will soon be transferred to the State CID for further investigation,” the spokesman concluded.

Olokoobi and her son, Oreofeoluwa Lawal-Babalola, caught the attention of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu after the boy’s video begging his mum saying “mummy be calming down” went viral in 2020.

The governor praised the boy’s bravery and calmness when he and his family visited with him.
