Polaris Bank Limited recently announced the appointment of Mr. Segun Opoke, as an Executive Director of the Bank, by the Board of Directors and AMCON.

This came after the recent appointment of Mr. Innocent Ike, as the acting Managing Director of the bank.

Opeke who have over 26 years experience in leading Nigerian commercial banks, also has over 15 years in Senior and Executive Management roles.

Prior to this appointment, Opeke was the Directorate Head, Lagos Business. The Lagos Directorate recorded immense growth under Opeke’s leadership. This growth added to the turnaround of the bank, which was proven by its financial performance, recorded for the 2019 financial year.

With this new appointment, Opeke is expected to strengthen and improve the leadership of the bank, as well as aspirations in the banking industry. Opeke has previously occupied roles in various institutions which have been strategic. Such institutions include, FSB International Bank, Prudent Bank and Chartered Banks, which is where he started his career in banking.

As Skye Bank emerged in 2006, Opeke worked as the bank’s Treasurer and Regional Director for Victoria Island and Ikoyi. In addition to this, he was also the Group Head for Corporate Banking, Aviation and Maritime Group, at different times.

Opeke holds a BSc in Banking and Finance, and an MBA from the University of Lagos. He is also alumnus of the Columbia Business School, New York. Additionally, he has attended various professional, management and leadership programmes in well-known and respected institutions, such as INSEAD and Euromoney, London.
