The government of Oyo State, has come out to declare that all allegations saying they have a new policy on education, which is aimed at privatising its secondary schools are all false, and it also clarified that the partnership which was proposed with stakeholders, would not lead to the termination of any teacher’s job.
The position of the government of this matter was clarified by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Mr. Yomi Layinka, yesterday in Ibadan.
Other stakeholders who were present at the press briefing included the PermanentSecretary in Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Aderonke Makanjuola; and her counterpart in the Information and Culture Ministry, Dr Bashir Olanrewaju.

According to government representatives, the press conference was called in order to stop members of the public from being afraid of any rumours they had heard, on the privatisation of schools.
Layinka, said Senator Abiola Ajimobi would not be part of any decisions, which would be against the interest of the general public, explaining that the government only responded to clarion calls made by religious leaders, missionaries, old students’ associations and communities to partner in the management of the few schools, which they originally owned.
“We are only going into partnership with thee bodies who might meet the criteria for return of such schools. We are not selling our school. In fact, we might end up returning not more than 20 out of our 631 secondary schools that were originally owned by missionaries and communities,” Layinka said.
