The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in Osun declared an indefinite strike after police fired teargas at protesting workers near the High Court entrance in Oke-Fia, Osun’s state capital.

Chairman Oluwagbemiga Eludire cited the Chief Judge’s alleged hostility towards workers and insisted on answers to unresolved issues, including the unlawful suspension of members for over 57 months. Eludire ordered workers to withdraw their services until further notice, emphasizing their grievances against the Chief Judge’s actions.

The protest, initially focused on the suspension of three colleagues and withheld wardrobe allowances, escalated into violence when the Chief Judge’s arrival heightened tensions. Security clashes ensued, with police deploying teargas as workers and journalists dispersed.
