The first ever virtual meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC), was held on Thursday and was presided over, by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting was anchored from the Yellow Room, which is the office of the Vice President, and it was the fourth for this year, and the government strives to reduce the impact of the corona virus pandemic.

In the meeting, virtually, was the Minister of Finance, as well as governors who joined from their various states.

Constitutionally, this meeting is held monthly and the vice president is usually the chairman. This meeting is held to deliberate on the coordination of economic planning and programmes of various levels of government.

NEC is made up of the 36 state governors, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Minister of Finance, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Secretary to the Government of the Federation and other relevant government officials, whose duties hinged on the economy.
