The federal government has initiated the distribution of approximately 20 truckloads of rice to each of Nigeria’s 36 states and Abuja to address the ongoing food crisis.

Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information, made this announcement in Abuja on Monday during a briefing with State House reporters following the Federal Executive Council meeting.

“Each truck carries around 1,200 bags of rice, each weighing 25 kilograms. This is one of several measures the government is implementing to significantly alleviate the hardship faced by Nigerians,” Idris stated.

The rice is intended for vulnerable populations and will be distributed by state governments.

“Every state government has received 20 trucks of rice for distribution to those most in need. This is the initial step, and the federal government will continue to support state and local governments to mitigate the food supply shortage affecting many Nigerians,” Idris added.
