The government of Ondo State plans to establish entrepreneurial centers in secondary schools to provide students with vocational skills.

The state’s commissioner for education, science, and technology, Laolu Akindolire, announced this after inspecting schools in Akure to assess the start of the third term of the 2023–2024 academic session.

Akindolire mentioned that the ministry would work together with the Office of the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Entrepreneurship and Innovation for this initiative.

According to him, this initiative intends to empower students with entrepreneurial skills, ensuring they have sustainable career options in the future. Akindolire also praised the visited schools for maintaining clean environments.

“I am satisfied with what I have seen in the schools I visited. Their compounds are neat, and the student enrollment is very encouraging and satisfying.

“There is hope for our education sector, and we will advance to the next level in the state,” he said.

The commissioner charged the school administrators to be more committed to their duties and show a good example, stressing that the students look up to them.

Also speaking, Okeowo Ogunleye, the principal of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure, one of the schools inspected, appealed to teachers to be more committed to their work.
