The Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Banji Ajaka has confirmed two cases of cholera in the state.

The cases were reported in Okitipupa Local Government Area.

Ajaka stated that the state has activated surveillance and a rapid response team to address any potential outbreak immediately.

“The surveillance team was also strengthened with community informants and contact tracers trained and placed on stipends for eight months,” he said. “They have been deployed for active case searches in preparation for any reported cholera outbreak.”

The commissioner mentioned that an emergency preparedness committee will be established to ensure the provision of clean water, improve sanitation, and strengthen health institutions in the state.

He assured that the government will contribute by raising awareness through mass media and community engagement efforts.
