Ondo State Labour Party (LP) Governorship candidate, Ayodele Olorunfemi, has pledged to implement a minimum wage of N120,000 for workers if elected.

He made the promise In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos.

He emphasized the correlation between fair wages and increased productivity among workers.

Reflecting on their campaign promises from 2023, Olorunfemi mentioned that the LP initially proposed a minimum wage of N80,000.

However, due to the current economic situation and rising living costs, the party now commits to a minimum wage of N120,000.

He expressed confidence in the state’s ability to afford this increase and highlighted the intention to enhance worker productivity, thereby boosting the state’s Internally Generated Revenue.

Furthermore, Olorunfemi outlined plans to develop a dry port in Ondo State to alleviate traffic congestion in Lagos and stimulate local business and economic activities.

He mentioned ongoing collaborations with the Alaba International Market Association in Lagos to establish this dry port in Ore, which would also feature a large international market aimed at reducing the commercial load on Lagos.

The candidate reiterated his belief in the sufficiency of the current state resources to support the proposed wage increase, aiming to foster a more prosperous and productive workforce in Ondo State.
