Reno Omokri, former Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, has called on President Bola Tinubu to reward Nigeria’s Super Eagles for securing a place in the 2023 AFCON semi-finals.

Ademola Lookman’s first-half goal secured a 1-0 victory over Angola, highlighting the positive impact of timely salary payments.

Omokri acknowledged Tinubu’s understanding of sports development, highlighting that a contented team performs at its best.

Omokri further proposed honoring the team with national awards, emphasizing the significance of pre-match motivation and nation-building through sports investment.

Furthermore, Omokri urged Nigeria’s president to confer the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) award upon the team for their semi-final win and the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) award should they eventually clinch the coveted trophy.

“That is why I call on President Tinubu to further motivate the Super Eagles by rewarding them for qualifying for the semi-finals,” Omokri wrote on X.

“Offer them and their coaches and officials the national award of OON if they win their semifinal match, and promise them the award of CON if they win the trophy.”

According to the 50-year-old Nigerian author and social media influencer, motivation is crucial. “Let us motivate them before the matches, not after they win.”
