Ogun seeks $350m loan from World Bank

NEWS DIGEST–The Ogun State Government said it had concluded plans to borrow $350m from the World Bank.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun disclosed this when he received a delegation of the bank in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, according to an official statement on Friday.

He said his administration would do everything possible to secure the loan, saying the incoming administration already had the support needed to enhance good governance.

Amosun said the loan would help create a system-driven environment for business even as he urged the bank’s team to fast-track the process for its final approval.

While presenting a progress report to the governor, the Task Team Leader for the World Bank, Mr. Kofi Nouve, explained that the major aim was to help the state government put in place necessary reforms and critical social investments that would help uplift the welfare of the populace.

“The team has got the final approval to proceed with the final design mission,” Nouve said.
