2023: Obi-dient movement not threat to APGA – Soludo

NEWS DIGEST – The Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, said the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and his supporters, popularly known as Obi-dients, don’t pose any threat to the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the 2023 general elections.

Mr Soludo, in a statement signed on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Alex Obiogbolu, said the Obi-dients are an offshoot of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

According to him, APGA remains the third largest party in the country.

While kicking against the candidature of Mr Obi, who was his predecessor, Mr Soludo expressed his full support for the presidential candidate of the APGA, Peter Umeadi.

The Anambra governor said the PDP erred by giving a northerner its ticket, stressing that supporting any other political party could affect the chances of APGA in the 2023 general elections.

“APGA remains the third largest political party in Nigeria, considering the number of political offices it has won.

“APGA has a state governor, members of the National Assembly, and members of the state assemblies.

“APGA does not consider the wave of the ‘Obidient Movement’ as a threat towards achieving its set goals in 2023.

“The LP and the ‘Obidient Movement’ are offshoots of the PDP. Therefore, they pose a big threat to PDP, not APGA,” Mr Obiogbolu added.
