NUJ Urges Government to Address Fuel Scarcity in Oyo State

The Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has urged the Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to find lasting solutions to the recurring fuel scarcity in the country.

The union issued this demand on Monday as reports emerged of petrol being sold between N700 and N820 per litre in parts of Ibadan, the state capital.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola, and made available to the media through the union’s Secretary, Comrade Olusola Oladapo, NUJ emphasized the urgency of addressing these issues to alleviate the hardships faced by many Nigerians.

He said, “Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has condemned in strongest terms, the lingering petrol scarcity in Ibadan and other parts of the state, which has caused untold hardships for citizens.

“The NUJ chairman also urged the government to find a lasting solution to the recurring petrol scarcity and price hike, which he described as a major setback to the economic development of the state and the country at large.”
