The vice chancellor of the National Open University, Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu led a team of staff to the South East of Nigeria on Advocacy Campaign for the university.
The Vice Chancellor paid a visit to Ahaizu Mbaise LGA of Imo state where he met with the Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Eddy Enwereji, deputy chairman, secretary of the local government and other staff.
Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu told the Chairman that one of the mandates of the National Open University is to have a study centre in each of the 774 local governments of the federation, and asked the Chairman to look at the possibility of establishing a study centre for the local government .
The vice chancellor, who is the Nze Oka Ome of Enugu state, also paid homage to the Traditional Ruler of Umuokrika, His Royal Majesty, Eze S.P. Iwu, Omeodo Ugwumba II of Umuokrika Kingdom, where he announced his presence and seek the blessings as well as begged the royal father to help campaign for NOUN as it’s the only university that provides flexible, accessible and quality education.

Responding, the royal father said he will do everything within his powers to see that NOUN succeeded in it’s campaign drive.
Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu also paid a visit to the Girl’s Secondary School Ekwereazu where he did his NYSC in 1979 to 1980.
The vice chancellor, who was emotionally shaken, recalled that the secondary school has one of the finest academic excellence in the country in those days, said he deemed it necessary to visit his home, after thirty-eight years, and asked the students of the school to continue to pay much attention to their studies.
The vice chancellor donated, on behalf of the National Open University, exercise and science text books, to the school, as well as five hundred thousand Naira personal donation to the school to build new toilet.
Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu also announced, on behalf of the National Open University, scholarships to five best, indigent students that couldn’t continue their education due to lack of financial support, to study at the National Open University.
Thanking the vice chancellor for the visit, donations as well as scholarships, the principal of the school, Rev. Sister Mary Maurice Njoku, said she’s moved by gesture and hoped that the vice chancellor will continue to visit them.
