The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) have successfully eradicated 99 terrorists and captured 198 others across various regions, as revealed by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ). Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations (DDMO), shared these significant achievements with the press in Abuja yesterday, shedding light on the military’s impactful efforts.

The triumphant week also saw the rescue of 139 hostages and the retrieval of 141 assorted weapons along with 1,463 rounds of ammunition in the Northeast, North Central, and Northwest theaters of operation. Among the recovered items were a General-Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), an assault rifle, 49 AK-47 rifles, and various other firearms seized from the insurgents.

In the Northeast, troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) apprehended three suspected terrorists’ collaborators in Gujba Local Council of Yobe. These individuals claimed to have been coerced into their involvement by the terrorists. Additionally, a noteworthy surrender took place, with 108 terrorists and their families, including adults and children, surrendering to troops between November 17 and 23.

Moving to the North Central, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) made strides by neutralizing three terrorists, apprehending 32, and rescuing eight hostages. Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) successfully raided criminal hideouts in Taraba and Benue states, resulting in the neutralization of two terrorists and the rescue of three hostages.

In the Northwest, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) executed decisive actions, neutralizing 20 terrorists, apprehending 20, and rescuing 83 hostages across Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara states. The air component of the operation targeted a terrorist leaders’ enclave known as LalbiNagogo, conducting air interdiction that struck the location in Danmusa Local Council of Katsina State.
