Professor Ijeoma Uchegbu, celebrated for her work in nanoparticle drug delivery, is set to take the helm as the 7th President of Wolfson College, one of the prestigious 31 colleges affiliated with the University of Cambridge.

Her tenure, succeeding Professor Jane Clarke on October 1, 2024, marks a pivotal moment for the college’s future.

Currently holding the position of Professor of Pharmaceutical Neuroscience at University College London (UCL), Uchegbu’s journey from her roots in Southeast Nigeria to her impactful career includes overcoming challenges in her pursuit of academic excellence. 

Her pioneering research on drug transport mechanisms has led to the development of revolutionary pain relief treatments, notably the Envelta pain medicine candidate designed to address the opioid crisis.

Beyond her scientific achievements, Uchegbu’s extensive leadership roles, awards, and positions on academic boards showcase her commitment to advancing education and inclusivity. 

Her appointment is expected to infuse Wolfson College with a fresh perspective and a wealth of knowledge, fostering a research-intensive environment where innovation and critical thinking thrive.
