Ethiopia’s Haftamu secures a well-deserved first place at the ECOWAS Abuja International Marathon, while Nigerian athletes shine across the podium.

The event celebrated Nigerian success, with Patience claiming a fantastic second place in the women’s half marathon. The marathon’s generous prize money, ranging from $10,000 for first place to $1,000 for 10th, fueled the competitive spirit and marked the growing stature of the event. 

Race Director Gabriel Okon expressed satisfaction with the tcaliberbre of runners, emphasizing Nigeria’s notable improvement. 

ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Director, Francis Chuks Njoaguani, extended gratitude for the race’s success, highlighting the ongoing commitment to empower youths in the West African sub-region.
