Nigeria v Argentina: Rio Ferdinand in dilemma over which team to support

NEWS DIGEST – Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has said he is uncertain about which team to support between Nigeria and Argentina when they lock horns today at St. Petersburg.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles battle the Alibeceleste of Argentina in a high profile and eagerly anticipated contest, with a round of 16 qualification ticket at stake.

Rio Ferdinand, who is very popular among Nigerian football lovers, holds a chieftancy title in Lagos state. The title of ‘fiwagboye’ which literally means ‘character makes wealth’ was bestowed upon him by King Rilwan Akiolu on a 2-day visit to Lagos state in 2008.

Despite having an affection for Nigeria, Ferdinand is an admirer of Lionel Messi. He took to twitter to express his dilemma as to which team to support, and accompanied the post with a picture of himself in a Nigerian attire taken during the ceremony of his chieftancy.
